Why VO₂ max

Your annual check-up is missing the most important number.

Blood pressure and cholesterol describe risk. VO₂ max — the maximum oxygen your body can use — describes capacity. It's the single strongest predictor of long-term health we can measure, and it responds to training faster than almost anything else.

5×

Higher all-cause mortality risk for the least fit versus the most fit — larger than smoking or diabetes.

Questions, answered.

Something else? Talk to our corporate team.

What actually happens during the test?

You wear a lightweight mask that measures every breath while running or cycling at gradually increasing intensity. Most tests last 8–14 minutes until you reach your maximum. Allow 45 minutes in total including warm-up and debrief.

Does my employer see my results?

No. Individual reports go to you only. Employers receive aggregated, anonymised data, and no group under 10 people is ever reported.

Can you test at our office?

Yes. Our mobile lab needs a room of about 4×4m with a standard power outlet. We handle setup, cleaning and scheduling.

Is it safe if I'm not very fit?

The protocol adapts to every level and starts at a walk. Everyone completes a health screening questionnaire first, and a resting ECG is included.

What equipment do you use?

Laboratory-grade metabolic carts, calibrated before every session, with a medical-grade treadmill or cycle ergometer.

How do we get started as a company?

Request a demo day. We'll test a pilot group of up to 12 people, then help you roll out to the wider team.

I have a heart condition or I'm having cancer treatment. Can I still test?

Possibly — but we'd start with a clinical assessment through Engela Health, our clinical exercise rehabilitation service in Marylebone. Send us an enquiry and we'll advise on the safest route.
